Für das Programm Fitting in bringt das Two New Duo nicht nur ein Cello und eine Posaune auf die Bühne, sondern auch verschiedenste Alltagsobjekte: ein Radio, eine Shampoo-Flasche, einen Schuh mit Klettverschluss, eine Keramikschüssel und eine Klingel. Die Klänge der Objekte fügen sich in das Spektrum der musikalischen Klänge ein. Auch visuelle Elemente werden in die Synthese von Musik, Bildern und Alltagsgeräuschen einbezogen.
Das in Basel lebende Two New Duo (Ellen Fallowfield: cello and Stephen Menotti: posaune) hat sich auf die Aufführung zeitgenössischer Musik spezialisiert und arbeitet u.a. oft mit jungen Komponisten zusammen, deren Werke es in Basel, Zürich, Strassburg, London, Frankfurt und Berlin zur Aufführung gebracht hat. Das Programm Fitting in umfasst Kompositionen von Stefan Prins, Ricardo Eizirik, David Janesko, Jessie Marino and Natascha Diels, Simon Steen-Andersen, Carola Bauckholt, Teresa Carrasco and Mauricio Kagel.
The Basel-based duo Two-New (Ellen Fallowfield and Stephen Menotti) will perform a concert of new music for cello, trombone and objects, including new pieces by emerging young composers Teresa Carrasco (graduate of the Hochschule für Musik Basel) and Ricardo Eizirik (graduate of the Zürcher Hochchule der Künste) and artist David Janesko (graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute).
In Fitting in, the Two New Duo bring not only a cello and trombone onto the stage, but several every day objects: a radio, a shampoo bottle, a shoe with a Velcro fastening, a ceramic jar, and a service bell. Visual art is also incorporated into the programme as the performers explore the ‘sound’ of photographs and gestures. It is a synthesis between music, images and every day noises.
