Short Essay on a Few Questions of Contemporary Composition in the Form of a Correspondence

The present text is the result of a correspondence and of various personal exchanges. Instead of writing the usual composer’s «portrait», it seemed more fruitful to attempt a more dialogal form, where two points of view on contemporary problems can be confronted and entwined. The main topic is the emergence of the computer as tool and medium for today’s music. A few hints of reflection are given, both to evaluate this new state of affair, and to question its influence on the already existing media.
