Dissonance

The white sound

From the diary of a lunatic

Klaus B. Gogl
„Composing as an existential experience”: Helmut Lachenmann’s bon mot shows itself in its wholly gruesome truth, when one reads those diary entries of an anonymous musician, a collection of extracts first published by this journal (that have been provided by Klaus B. Gogl). Music and the creative act become, when pushed to the extreme, a kind of “superformula” that determines every parameter of life, even its most intimate ones. We publish those remarks at the occasion of the Berner Musikfestival, under the theme of “WahnWitz” (madness, aberration), to which the Schweizerischer Tonkünstlerverein (ASM/STV) participates.
