Free improvisation: possibilities and limits of a transmission

A research project from Lucerne Music University is dedicated to the question of how free improvised music can be transmitted and taught. On the basis of empirical observations one shall attempt to order didactic tools and present them as a catalogue of teaching methods, models and concepts. In close connection with this research a critical glossary will be developed, which contains about a hundred music-theoretical concepts reflecting the needs of free improvised music as well as its teaching.
